Call for abstractAlongside keynote presentations and topic-oriented presentations held by invited pedagogues and researchers, three categories are open, each encouraging out-of-the-box contribution types. It is possible to submit an abstract (maximum 500 words + 1 image) to one or to several categories. The first type is an “ideation workshop”. A Pecha-Kucha presentation (6’40 long, 20 times exactly 20 second on each slide) on the speaker’s pedagogical approach is expected, either on the topic of “emerging pedagogies” (experimental pedagogy that does not follow pre-existing models, or reinvents them) or on the topic of “one-off experiment” (experimental pedagogy framed by a specific context or opportunity, that is not necessarily replicable in other contexts). After all the presentations, a discussion between the speakers and the audience will be held, animated by a professional journalist, the exchanges being recorded for the proceedings. The second type is an “experiential conference”. The speakers are invited to create an experience representative of their pedagogical approach. The format is open, and the speakers can be assisted by the supporting material of their choice. This presentation format is meant as an experiment to help the audience grasp the originality of the pedagogy by seeing it live, in context, and for the speaker to demonstrate its impact experientially and not theoretically. Here again, the presentations will be followed by a discussion between the speakers, and with the audience. The third type of communication is a participation in an “experiential exhibition” held parallel to the conference. These categories are also open to student contributions. Candidates can propose mockups (1:1 or reduced scale), photographs, films, any relevant experimental material or end results of experiential projects (good, bad or ugly). Many supportive materials can be relevant, as long as they contribute to the comprehension of the “how-to” and the “behind the scenes” of experiential learning. Those who choose this type of communication will have the opportunity to present their methods, their results, or the evolution of their pedagogy with guest speakers and the audience during the downtimes of the conference.
The communication proposals for each of the above selective formats will clearly display at least one of the three main topics of the symposium.
Depending on the nature of the activities presented, and especially of their possible multi-disciplinary dimension, the communications can be presented by one or several speakers.
